KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 – LEAP Market-listed ICT Zone Asia Berhad won an award for the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) category at the recently concluded PIKOM Digital Excellence Awards 2024 held at the Sunway Resort Hotel yesterday.
The 2024 Digital Excellence Awards began accepting nominations in June this year, and a total of 34 prestigious awards were presented after 3 months of review by the panel judges.
“Receiving the ESG award is a testament to our collective effort in the past year. ESG is not just a trend for our company; it is a strategy that promotes both social welfare and sustainable business growth, encouraging us to continue making more contributions in this field,” said Tommy Lim Kok Kwang, the Managing Director and CEO of ICT Zone Asia Bhd.
Pikom chairman Ong Chin Seong said the award ceremony is a testament to the creativity, commitment, and excellence that define Malaysia’s digital landscape.
“We have been organising this since 1989, and for 35 years, we have been recognising the key industry players. The award serves as a recognition of the companies’ contributions to the industry,” Ong said.
In his speech as the guest of honour, Digital Minister Gobind Singh emphasized that his ministry and India recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance and exchange digital technology-based solutions, including the establishment of the Malaysia-India Digital Council (MIDC) focused on digital public infrastructure and e-government solutions, fostering exchanges of technical expertise, and exploring B2B partnerships between the two nations’ digital industry players.
Gobind further noted that the digital economy contributed 20% to Malaysia’s GDP in 2023 and he hopes to increase this figure to 25.5% by the end of this year. He concluded by stressing that political stability and clear economic policies are key drivers of national progress.
